@ninckblokje indeed, it can appear very complex when you open a man page the first time, but once you understand the logic and the few common "commands" it's quite easy and the result is always good looking.

Nice to read from someone writing man pages! Most projects nowadays only ship a vaguely accurate README.md file

We are in 2021 and Flash Player is now obsolete and unmaintained and disabled in major web browsers!

Now that my blog support publishing simultaneously on http, #gopher and #gemini I started an experiment.

While my blog is about computer science, I will now publish some personal content (movie review, opinions) on gopher and gemini only.

Why? I don’t know, maybe I feel I want to reach a few people and not the whole world with those texts.

How can I end an email without being too formal? I learned "Best regards" or "Kind regards" at school but I see lot of people use "Cheers".

Any recommendation? I like to end my mail with a short word instead of ending with the last paragraph of text.

@Hukadan yes, that game is now finished and complete, and receive a huge update every 6 months.

It took at least 2 or 3 years to fix the game though :D I bought it the first day, I played it a lot with its issue and lack of content. I tried to play it again recently but I've not been able to get into it, I already played it in the past and the :flan_aww: effect isn't there anymore for me :(

I wish I played it in its current state.

    Bonjour,

Auriez-vous un livre à me recommander pour apprendre les bases de Linux/Unix qui explique comment faire un script shell et les bases en général.

C'est pour quelqu'un que je connais qui a besoin de monter en compétences.

    En français par contre :)

I read a lot of hate articles about the #gemini protocol.

I don't understand this hate. What's wrong with defining a new protocol? It seems to be a fun exercise.

Maybe gemini is going nowhere and will be forgotten next year, but if you don't care about this, don't discriminate the work done.

A criticism I often read is gemini shouldn't exist, that we should work on lighter web browsers and lighter blogs. We could, but couldn't people write a new protocol?

Should we add MORE specs to http??

@bortzmeyer cool, the fix wasn't obvious. Do you run it on an old computer? (which may not have sse 4.1)

Per my personal experience, gopher and gemini, Lagrange is really the best client I ever used. Too bad it doesn't render text/markdown yet but it's planned for later :)

This is an incredible experience to watch how dynamic the gemini community is.

@bortzmeyer interesting, it's very rare to see a program working on OpenBSD and failing on Linux.

I have no idea why it doesn't work on debian.

Browsing the #Gemini and #Gopher spaces using Lagrange [1] feel SO NICE. The user experience of Lagrange is really amazing. :flan_ooh:

#openbsd users can use my port to install it [2]

    Vger + syslog is reality

    Vger is FINISHED

I see no reason to add any other feature. #gemini protocol is already 100% supported, syslog is there for traces, it was built with security in mind and all the network management is delegated to a proper daemon. So, I don't see anything to add.

    Any idea? :D

    For me it's just done :flan_shrug: :flan_shrug:
