@dolfsquare@manchot There is a huge difference here: as an administration staffed mostly by scientists and engineers who have "failure is not an option" as a motto, they are bound to slow processes and standards.
By their own admission, having SpaceX do the research and development led to much faster and cheaper results than what could be dreamed in a full-NASA project
@manchot@dolfsquare Of all these SpaceX is the less scammy one. They have actual rockets, they can actually carry things and people to low orbit, sure all this was delivered beyond schedule but it exists and it works.
@manchot@dolfsquare This! When you look closely every single Elon Musk business is some way to funnel public funding into his private pockets. He chases incentives, I'm pretty convinced he doesn't care at all for the "engineering" part but he's smart enough to know that by playing Tony Stark he can get all the funding and support he wants
@dolfsquare 100 mph is slower than what the double deck trains in Belgium can achieve. Regular trains, with hundreds on board. This whole Hyperloop thing is a scam
Today is Bandcamp Friday, 100% of proceeds go to artists, and drone/doom/kraut band Des Yeux released a 20+ minutes long track as a fundraising effort to provide adequate IT for kids in less fortunate communities who need it for online schooling: https://desyeux.bandcamp.com/album/vide
