@shpuld Or maybe, just maybe, get your government to fund first-aid lessons to ~everyone instead of relying on a cat video hoster…
-
@sim @shpuld Everytime? (I got one of those lessons, it's almost mandatory in France)
-
@lanodan @shpuld How often does that cover choking on fish bones though?
-
@lanodan @shpuld I'm surprised as I wouldn't think that was the focus. Then again, you might need a refresher on what to do even if you have a class... first aid books are probably better for this though.
-
@sim @shpuld I still remember most of it after 7+ years, but yeah, needs to be refreshed from time to time on the jobs that needs it.Also we've an healthcare phone line (112 in EU) but I guess that's an unrealistic one for USA.
-
@lanodan @shpuld Yeah, but it also depends on how good your memory is for stuff like this. Mine would be shot. Oh yeah... normally you would call a phone line but sometimes they can take a long time.
-
@sim @shpuld Can take a long time?I had to call them few times, the answer is basically instant.
-
@sim Your country be like: Welcome to Hell's care.
-
@lanodan @shpuld Depends on if you are in a queue or not. Plus over here I have to sit through those automated calls before I can get through to a human.
-
@lanodan Basically. It's a nightmare having to deal with calling anyone like that. The repetitive voice and music that often plays... ugh...
-
@sim hahaha oh noes that's basically calling a bank to me.
-
@lanodan Pretty sure that is calling anyone here for me... lol. They truly have embraced it.
-
@sim They have quite embraced it here as well but at least within some limitation.Wouldn't be surprised that it would be sort of illegal to use answer-bots for some services in France.
-
@sim Well the local hospital center here has a queue (and maybe a quick answerbot, I forgot) but that's quite normal given that it's for getting information to relatives/visitors and maybe getting an appointment, not something where you need it to be fast anyway.
-
@lanodan Yeah, I would hope so as well. A lot of healthcare uses it here, but hopefully not the actual emergency line. I haven't had to use it to find out, thankfully. But yeah, I was thinking about pre-recorded messages that loop until the phone picks up. There are also some services that use bots to direct you for some service. That's annoying. I just want to deal with a human I can understand.
