And here’s the current home page. I’m trying to focus a lot more on the content and less on making things “2021 attractive” so everything should be as simple and readable as possible.
One of the things I put a lot of thought into was how links are styled. I was originally going to go with the default underlined blue of regular HTML but it draws too much attention imo. I thought about using a more subtle colour but realised it might be too subtle for some to pick up on. Instead, I copied the link style from my old design because it forces people to actually read the content before they can pick out the links. Once you realise the convention, it’s fairly easy to spot them throughout.
@amolith It's quite a nice way to style single/few-words inline-links but not so sure for ones that span basically over the whole line like on the curated list of articles.
@lanodan that's definitely fair but I don't really want to add yet another link style. Not counting the site title or menu, there are three: in-text links using the degree symbol, the underline for footnotes and backlinks, and headings in the table of contents, which I seem to have inadvertently broken. They're supposed to just be the not-quite-black of all the other text and underlined with no hover animation. Adding a fourth style would be too much imo. The degree links don't look the /greatest/ when they're that long but the home page is probably the only place it'll ever be a problem.
